The Review:

I have to say I have loved being part of this series of book tours so a big thank you to Rebecca Raisin and Love Reading Romance for inviting me to be able to introduce these novellas to you all.

In book 3 we reunite with Clio and Amory at Cedarwood Lodge. Amory is head-over-heels with Cruz. All her misgivings all but forgotten she is planning her future in Evergreen with her beau, who is still enjoying his role as chef at the lodge.

After the success of the wedding fayre Aunt Bessie is the talk of social media, her bespoke doughnuts are a hit on Instagram and she has been invited to be on America Today.

Clio’s mother Annabelle is slowly coming around to her daughter owning the Lodge. Annabelle is working hard to put her issues behind her so she can be there for Clio.

Monty and Isla are still going strong. Isla is hard at work in the grounds getting ready for spring, uncovering a complicated maze with a sad history.

As for Clio, her matchmaking powers are at full kilter, just not in her own best interest. Kai, the Aussie builder, is still on the scene. Midnight yoga is very much on both their minds.

It has been lovely to be there as Clio bloomed from being the unsure party planner that arrived back home from New York under a cloud to the proud business owner she is in book 3. She has grown and developed. Clio is that person that everyone wishes they knew. Kind and generous to a fault, it’s just a shame that she never truly wants to put herself out there. Her life seems to be about everybody else.

Amory arrives as the flighty friend, in Brides and Bouquets she proves that she has a grounding effect on Clio. Lifting her up when she needs it most, and in Midnight and Mistletoe she is the voice of reason. In essence Amory is Clio’s Jiminy Cricket, and the voice of the reader. Coaxing Clio out of her comfort zone.

I have very much taken Clio and Amory into my heart and I don’t think I will ever be ready to say goodbye to them fully.

The Review:

In October I took part in a book tour for Celebrations and Confetti. The first in Rebecca Raisin’s latest novella trilogy, and this month I will be sharing part two with you too.

Clio grew up in Evergreen, a small town in New Hampshire. Cedarwood Lodge had been her playground. Closed for as long has she could remember, the grounds were overgrown but were perfect for her to run free. At 10 years of age Clio was she was certain that if the chance ever came up she would buy the lodge.

Fastforward twenty years, and Clio is stood in front of Cedarwood Lodge. After a successful wedding planner career in New York she has made her dream come true… and bought the lodge. Granted her return to Evergreen is under a bit of a cloud, however she is determined to make it work. School friend Micah is on board to help with the immediate renovations.

Can Clio regain her magic touch and breath new life into the Lodge in time to host a wedding anniversary party? Or will events from New York spill over and threaten her new life? Only time will tell.

Rebecca has created a coming-of-age tale mixed with a redemption story. I just wanted to reach into the page and give Clio a big hug, and a bit of a slap.

Like Jane Austen’s Emma Clio has a touch of the matchmaker about her, unlike Emma she isn’t as spoilt. If anything she is misunderstood and is rocked by the lack of support her mother seems to be giving her. Instead of being overjoyed that her daughter has come back home, her Mom is if anything standoffish and put out that her daughter decided to buy the Lodge. Not that Clio knows why.

I’m not ashamed to say how much I love novellas. They fit into working life really well. The stories are short and succinct but have lots to give in a lunch break, or while you are commuting. I’m already excited to read Clio’s next chapter.

The Blurb:

Bookshop owner Sarah Smith has been offered the opportunity to exchange bookshops with her new Parisian friend for 6 months! And saying yes is a no-brainer – after all, what kind of romantic would turn down a trip to Paris?

Even if it does mean leaving the irresistible Ridge Warner behind, Sarah’s sure she’s in for the holiday of a lifetime – complete with all the books she can read!

Imagining days surrounded by novels, munching on croissants, sipping café au laits and people-watching on the Champs-Élysées Sarah boards the plane.

But will her dream of a Parisian Happily-Ever-After come true? Or will Sarah realise that a fairytale romance in the city of love isn’t quite as rosy in reality…

The Review:

I picked this book up last weekend, before I had the opportunity to be part of the book cover reveal this week. I’d like to think that there was a bit of serendipity at work.

I have a real soft spot for stories based around extended families made from friends of all shapes and sizes. This is just what I found here.

From the start Sarah needs a change, something more than staying in her small bookshop in Ashford, a small town in the east coast State of Connecticut.

The Little Bookshop on the Seine is the first I’ve read from Rebecca Raisin, although I have a few stacked in my Kindle’s virtual TBR pile. And even though it is a continuation of The Bookshop on the Corner it is a good standalone novel.

Bookshop owner Sarah is a romantic, in love with the idea of love. Not one of the world’s well-travelled she’s barely stepped from the town boundaries of Ashford. Then Sophie, a friend and fellow shop owner she’s met online, offers a bookshop swap for six months. After a disastrous romantic entanglement Sophie needs to break away from life in Paris.

Once upon a Time is everything that The Bookshop on the Corner isn’t. It’s a thriving bustling shop, with hardly any downtime and a cast of staff that is mind-boggling.

Sarah agrees to a six-month swap, dreaming of wandering down the Champs-Élysées and climbing the Eiffel Tower. Reality is slightly different. On her harried arrival, where she manages to get lost en route to the shop, she is swept along with the hustle and bustle of serving customers until she realises that her bag, passport and money has all been stolen.

Soon she realised that she really is a long way from home, and just how far away boyfriend Ridge is as he jets around the world looking for his next story.

The Little Bookshop on the Seine is a story of growth and really a modern age coming of age tale for Generation X.
